If only you could bottle self-confidence...
Self-confidence...that elusive feeling when you feel totally comfortable in your own skin, bold, capable and you at your absolute best! You can take on the world and achieve all your goals with ease.
Typically though, there are the days when just getting out of bed and facing the day with a smile can be a challenge. A feeling of being stuck in the mud with a storm cloud on the horizon!
Self-confidence...you can't bottle it, you can't buy it and you can't tether it down.
But if your self-confidence is lacking, the good news is that you can improve it. Here are my three best tips to do just that...
1. Positive thought
Low self confidence is often caused by the negative thoughts that run through our heads on an endless track, bringing us down and limiting our belief in ourselves. Spot when this is happening and switch this negative self-talk to a positive affirmation and keep doing so until it sticks. It might be difficult at first but practise and repetition is the key here.
2. Change your posture, body language and image
Stand tall, pull your shoulders back, make eye contact with the person you're speaking to and take your time to speak slowly. Make the effort with your appearence too: put on your best clothes, style your hair and look good.
All this helps to project a look of confidence, even if you don't feel it inside to begin with, soon that outward confidence will sink inwardly too!
3. Set small acievable goals
People often make the mistake of shooting for the moon and then when they fail, they get discouraged. Instead shoot for something more achievable. Once you've set one small goal and achieved it, the better at it you'll be and the better you'll feel about yourself too. soon you can set yourself bigger (but still achievable) goals and achieve those too!
